Don't worry about creating a code list.
In the data model create a new data field and bind that to the Opportunity Status Code. In the properties of that field set the initial value to 1; 2; (if that doesn't work just try 1)
Then in the OVS, bind that data field to the OVS Opportunity Status Code.
That might work, I am not sure.
